Valley of Words, the iconic Literature and Arts Festival, in institutional partnership with CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun and CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee, will host its Hindi vertical on the 29th-30th of September under the title Hindi Sahitya Sammelan.
Dedicated to the promotion of official language Hindi along with the core mandate of scientific innovation, encouraging maximum use of Hindi language through various programs such as poetry readings, competitions on a regular basis, CSIR-IIP and CSIR-CBRI will celebrate September the Hindi Maah – together with VoW.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Anjan Ray, Director CSIR-IIP and Director, CSIR-CBRI added, “CSIR has walked hand in hand with Uttarakhand since the foundation of the State, partnering in development through science and technology for energy access, disaster mitigation and sustainability efforts. Both our Institutes in Uttarakhand are privileged to extend this journey into the domain of cultural engagement with the State and the Nation’s official language through this partnership with the Valley of Words."
A galaxy of litterateurs from Hindi fiction, Hindi Non-fiction, Translation from Bhashas of India into Hindi, will be participating in hybrid mode in this two-day Hindi literary festival. These include Maitreyi Pushpa, Sumati Saxena Lal, Ranendra, Naveen Choudhary, Neelakshi Singh in Hindi fiction; Sujata, Mamta Kalia, Shirish Khare, Ashish Kaul in Hindi non-fiction and Mihir Saswadkar, Dr. Arsu and Shipra Pandey in translation from Bhashas of India into Hindi .
Also participating in the event will be the noted Hindi poet Mamta Kiran, Prof. Roop Kishore Shastri, Dr. Anjan Ray, Dr Sushil Upadhyay, Dr Amna Mirza, Pradeep Chauhan, Dinesh Chamola, noted litterateur Laxmi Shanker Bajpai who also heads the Hindi vertical in the Valley of Words.
Another interesting feature is the involvement of, and participation by our young volunteers from Graphic Era, DIT and DAV PG College. Many of them will also be sharing their creative expressions in the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan.
Festival Director, Sanjeev Chopra, “VoW is extending its reach through partnerships, and by staggering its events for we realize that each knowledge vertical has a niche audience. We are delighted to partner with IIP and CBRI for it will change the way we look at Hindi Divas. We are shifting the focus from the official to the social and literary contexts in which Hindi is used in our everyday lives.'
He placed on record the appreciation of the VoW Board for Someshwar Pandeya and Sachin Chauhan who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the phygital version of the event becomes a landmark event on the literary calendar of Doon.
