Mr. Sagat Shaunik

Mr. Sagat is a development-sector practitioner and published military historian, associated with academia, media (specialization in defence and community journalism), think tanks (internal security; governance; response agencies) and heritage-conservation (brick & mortar and digital-media) institutions.

He is employed in a Big-4 Consulting firm where he works on monitoring and evaluation (M&E), impact assessment and knowledge development projects in education, skill-development, women-empowerment, corporate philanthropy and similar sectors. Deeply involved in mentoring Civil Society Organisations as part of employment and independent pro-bono services, he brings extensive field research experience in disaster management and development-sector practices. With rich exposure to media-communications industry as a blogger, journalist and content-writer in the domains of military history, community issues, environment and social causes; he has presented three academic papers at international conferences for disaster management, of which one paper was published in the Journal of the Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA). His coffee-table book, “Untold Battlefiled Tales” pioneered documentation of India’s war history narratives.

He holds a B.A. Honours in History (University of Delhi), M.Sc. in Disaster Management (TISS Mumbai) and M.Phil. with Specialization in Planning & Development (IIT Bombay). He has qualified UGC-NET in the subjects of Social Work and Defence & Strategic Studies for employment as an Assistant Professor in any Indian University and select Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
