Dr. Divya Saksena

Dr. Divya Saksena is Professor and Dean of Humanities at IMS Unison University, Dehradun. She has a PhD in in British Modernism, Aesthetics, D.H. Lawrence from The George Washington University, USA and has taught a wide range of university courses in English Literature, Women’s Studies, and Writing for Research and Argument. While Assistant Professorial Lecturer at The George Washington University she received a nomination for the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award.

Dr Saksena has been an accredited distance education counselor with the Indira Gandhi National Open University, designer and instructor for language and culture courses for Japanese exchange program students at Delhi University, and member of a panel of teachers recording academic lectures for the “University of the Air ‘program on All India Radio.

She is currently working on a book manuscript tentatively titled “Transcending Development – Critical Investigations in Ecology, Education & Environment Reclamation” situated in the intersectional fields of literature, history, economics, and cultural studies that considers the he application of environmental philosophy, focusing on gendered experiences in formerly colonized countries to study the workings of capitalist expansionism in the global south. Her current research project is titled “Calculated Gazes: Search for Selfhood, Manipulations of Discourse and Beyond.” Situated in an interdisciplinary academic milieu, the project addresses the historical, political, literary and cultural parameters within which women actively participated in India’s freedom movement instead of being marginalized as gendered ciphers and statistics.
