Ashok Dhar, born and brought up in Kashmir is an engineer with corporate sector background. He worked for over thirty-five years in the Energy sector and held top leadership roles in three Fortune 500 companies in India and abroad. He is a member of Energy Institute (London) and the founding director of the Kolkata chapter of Observer Research Foundation, a leading Think Tank. Currently, he is the Principal Consultant and Director of Akarosi Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata, a management consulting and advisory company in Energy sector and an Independent Board member.
While, Ashok Dhar calls Kashmir as his home, Kumaon is indeed his second home. He joined Sainik School Ghorakhal, Nainital in 1966 (the year it started) and passed out after completing class XI in 1972, thus spending his formative years in Uttarakhand.
Having worked for many years in the domain of International trading and international business development in petroleum sector, Ashok is widely travelled in the Middle East, Africa, USA, UK, China and has also visited Pakistan. He takes deep interest in understanding diversity of history, culture, religions and politics of places visited.
Kashmir As I See It – From within and afar (Rupa Publication 2019) is his debut book and is on a subject he is most passionate about.
