Magnifying the Miniature
A wonderful colouring book that teaches children (and adults too!) about India's rich, diverse traditions of miniature paintings.
India has a long history of exquisite miniature painting, with many varied styles emerging and developing in different regions. This beautiful colouring book introduces younger artists to the delights of Indian miniatures by providing hand–drawn examples of several iconic paintings. A short explanation puts these images in context, revealing the history behind them and their makers. These hand– drawn outlines enable children to learn the distinguishing features of the various schools, while simultaneously encouraging them to apply their artistic imagination.
