Why a neutral ground between themes of Romance and thriller?

I have recently read some nerve cracking thrillers and was inspired to write something in a similar genre.
I make it a point that my work is believable and sould strongly relate to the characters or story in some way. Hence I choose this time to offer my audience something that has not been tried in India.

Tell us something about Dhruv and Anuradha the main characters of your book and what is unique about them?

Okay, so Dhruv is rising fast in his professional life, he his happily married, loves his kids but when this striking and intelligent women Anuradha comes into his life he is unable to control the infatuation he feels towards her, he talks to no one about his affair and things really gets messier down the line. On the other side Anuradha too has some dark historical baggage that she is secretly carrying around that can really drag him through hell. Yeah, so this is what the book is all about like what happens when a third person enters a happy marriage.

The unique thing about the characters are that they are not purely black or white personalities. Everyone has a dark secret or a grey element in their lives and that’s how these characters have been potrayed.

You have written three other books entirely on different themes so how did this idea of romantic thriller come to your mind?

These things actually happen around and we normally turn a blind eye towards them. Hence I wanted to write about situations when we lose control of our emotions and how these decisions of ours affects the lives of others that are part of our life.

Can you tell us something about your background? How did you started writing?

Actually my parents are eminent Hindi writers so that literary aura was always there.
Although, specifically, my journey of being an author began in 2002 when I was put up in Gujarat and the Gujarat riots took place. It deeply affected me and also my first book that is “It happened that night”
is all about the same. Writing comes to me through personal experience and also these ideas for the plot comes from people around me.

What other genres are you looking into for your next projects?

As I have said earlier I am really fascinated by thrillers right now. Hence would like to explore more in the same genre. My upcoming projects will be focused on Urban thrillers.

Some advice to the budding writers that might be attending the VoW festival this year?

Hard work is the key. When you finalize the plot of your story work extensively upon it.
Make a lot of notes. Next, take extreme care when deciding or creating the characters of your story since characters are the part of the story that people will relate to the most. Edit, edit a lot, always read your first draft multiple times, filter out what’s unnecessary then opt for going to the publishers.
