VOW- RED RABBIT Photography Award

The Red Rabbit Award has been instituted in memory of Lt. Col. Ranjeev Lal of the 99 Field Regiment, Corps of Artillery, Indian Army (Retd.), who laid down his life while carrying out flood relief operations in Uttarakhand in August 2019. A recipient of the Hill Ratna award from the Govt. of Uttarakhand, Col. Lal was an ardent nature lover and a keen participant of VoW. This award aspires to instill that same passion in the youth of today.

 

Rules and Regulations

 

  1. ELIGIBILITY
    • There is no entry fee.
    • The competition is open to all.
    • VOW will accept only digital images
    • Digital images that have won prizes in prior competitions, or have been used for commercial purposes and/or been published, will not be eligible
    • The theme for the photography competition is COVID- Nature Healing Herself

 

  1. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

2.1 Submission of digital images

2.1.1     Submitted images should be in JPEG format and at least 1,600 pixels wide for a horizontal image or 1,600 pixels tall for a vertical image.

2.1.2     Each participant to submit a portfolio of their best 5 works for the exhibition.

2.1.3     Participant will prepare a folder containing the artwork, wherein details of every entry should be given. A zipped folder should be emailed / uploaded

2.1.4     Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, or simple cropping are permitted.

2.1.5     The submission deadline is 31st October 2020.

2.1.6     The file name for each image should be clearly labelled with the participant’s name and the caption of the photo. E.g. Title by Meghna.jpg

2.1.7     Participants are entirely responsible for all entry-related costs.

2.1.8     Participants are to email their entries to [email protected] with the following details:

2.1.9     The organizer reserves the right to reject images with incomplete details.

The digital photographs received will be screened by a duly constituted committee, which will shortlist entries for the competition. Participants will be informed by email about their selected entries which will be displayed and presented on the VoW website.

 

  1. AWARDS

The Valley of Words 4th edition is proud to present the Red Rabbit Awards for student and amateur photographers.

The awards will be given in two categories:

  1. Under 18 years of age:

1st prize of INR 15,000 + Certificate

2nd prize of INR 10,000 + Certificate

3rd prize of INR 7,000 + Certificate

4 consolation prizes of INR 3,000 each + Certificate

 

  1. 18 years of age + above:

1st prize of INR 15,000 + Certificate

2nd prize of INR 10,000 + Certificate

3rd prize of INR 7,000 + Certificate

 

  1. FORMAT OF SUBMISSION

4.1         All entries need to be self-certified as original works

4.2         Student verification proof: ID card/report card/any other proof certifying age

4.3         VoW reserves the right to use the winning images for Non Profit use/ventures / campaigns

Quirkiness / unusualness of the subject

Public likes

 

  1. OUTREACH STRATEGY

VoW will reach out to all schools in Uttarakhand and elsewhere where it holds other outreach programs

VoW will reach out to all major schools across India through digital means (email campaign / website / news boards)

VoW will publicize the contest on all its public outreach channels, including but not limited to appropriate print media, television, podcasts, website etc.
