An Author’s Word: Vandana Raj
1. If not an author which other creative field would one find you in and why?
I cannot dream of being anything else, but a writer. Words and imagination come naturally to me. But if not a writer then I would have been an actor. An actor also dabbles with words and expression , indulges into imaginative spaces and to me is a performing writer.
2.What does the written word mean to you?
The written word means the world to me. It has been my thread of life, binding , holding, uplifting and comforting..
3.Your personal favourite five authors in any genre.
It is difficult to answer this one because I am a fan of so many writers across nations and languages.
- Orhan Palmuk
- Margaret Atwood
- Manzur Ahtesham
- Ismat Chugtai and many more.
4. What is your favourite word, in any language, and how would you describe its meaning?
‘Surreal’ is my favorite word as it tends to add layers and layers to a sentence and empowers the reader to interpret the text on her own terms.
5. E-Book or physical book? What do you prefer and why?
Physical book definitely but e-books are soon going to become the norm so I am kind of getting used to it. They are reader friendly, easily accessible on mobiles and always very handy..
