An Author’s Word: Ashutosh Garg
1. If not an author which other creative field would one find you in and why?
I like to draw so if I were not into writing, probably my paintings would find a place in an art gallery. Like writing, drawing is a silent form of expression. It is the hand that does the talking part. Somehow, it feels nice to speak without actually having to speak.

2. What does the written word mean to you?
Any art form, be it writing, drawing, dance, music or anything of the sort is an expression of the soul and a doorway to the infinite consciousness that we call God. Written word is a creation and to write is like being in harmony with the supreme creator. So, the written word to me is almost divine.

4. What is your favourite word, in any language, and how would you describe its meaning?
All popular languages have countless words. It is difficult to pick a favorite one. Yet, in Hindi, there is a word called VIDAMBANAA (विडंबना) which literally translates as IRONY. Life is full of ironical situations and thus, the word has become an inseparable part of our existence.
5. E-Book or physical book? What do you prefer and why?
Both e-books and physical books have their own merits and demerits. Personally, I prefer reading a physical book. There could be many reasons of which a few are: A physical book feels more tangible and real; it is comfortable if you want to take notes; if required, you can open and refer to several books at the same time; and above all, collection of physical books at home is uplifting!
